Dr Gifford is a clinician-scientist and peer educator in private practice in Brisbane, Australia, who graduated from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2003 with First Class Honours and an University Medal. She has a PhD in contact lens optics, 4 professional fellowships, over 40 peer reviewed and professional publications and has presented more than 90 conference lectures around the world, primarily on clinical myopia management. Kate has a long history of peer leadership, being the National President of Optometry Australia from 2014-16, and is now the Chair of the Clinical Guidelines Committee of the International Myopia Institute. In 2017 Kate was awarded the QUT Young Alumnus of the Year and the inaugural BCLA President’s Award.
